The Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra (Sanskrit: बृहत् पराशर होरा शास्त्र; IAST: bṛhat parāśara horā śāstra; abbreviated to BPHS) is the principal book on Vedic Astrology. It is written in Sanskrit by sage Parashara. It was expounded to sage Maitreya.

It is considered one of the most authoritative and comprehensive treatises on natal astrology, providing detailed guidance on the interpretation of horoscopes and the prediction of events based on planetary positions.

    • The text is attributed to Sage Parashara, one of the ancient sages (rishis) in Hindu tradition, also known as the father of Vyasa, the compiler of the Mahabharata.

    • Yogas (Planetary Combinations): Descriptions of various yogas, or planetary combinations, and their effects on an individual’s life.
    • Transits and Their Effects: Analysis of planetary transits (gochar) and their impact on different aspects of life.
    • Remedies and Rituals: Suggestions for remedies (upayas) and rituals to mitigate negative planetary influences and enhance positive effects.

Integration with Ramayana

This video shows the integration of Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra with Ramayana:
